Disaster Genome

A climate adaptation support tool that brings expert-curated, validated evidence into planning, policy, investment, and strategic decisions.

Disaster Genome bridges the gap between disaster research and practice, helping policymakers, planners, and communities understand the interconnected factors that shape disaster risk and resilience. Its AI-powered Climate Adaptation Support Tool (CAST) draws on research curated by experts at Columbia University’s National Center for Disaster Preparedness to answer questions with citations to supporting sources. Initially focused on wildfire adaptation, the project supports evidence-based planning, policy, and investment decisions with an emphasis on community resilience and equity.
